How to apply for coverage?

You can apply for coverage in a number of ways:

How can I pay for coverage?

If you have a credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover), you can apply quickly and easily online through our website. If you do not have a credit card, you can use a family member or friend’s credit card or debit card with their permission and do the entire application right online. If you are unable to secure a credit card or debit card, submit a paper application and pay your premium by bank wire transfer or check. Please download our instructions to pay your insurance by wire transfer.

What proof of coverage will I receive?

After you have purchased coverage, you will receive a confirmation email that will include a letter of coverage, a receipt, an id card and policy conditions. If you purchase online with a credit card, you will receive this confirmation within a few minutes of completing the transaction. If you purchase using a wire transfer, it will take up to 7 business days to receive your confirmation. When purchasing the plans online, you will also have an option to receive your documents by post which can take a few weeks depending on your mailing address.

Can I get a visa letter?

Within an hour after receiving your confirmation, you will be able to log on to the Student Zone, enter your certificate number and date of birth, and download and print a visa letter. Sometimes the consulate or the police want to see this letter in addition to the confirmation of coverage. If you need an original copy of your visa letter (not a PDF document) please contact our customer support team and we will be happy to mail the letter to you.

Which plan is right for me?

If you are trying to work out what plan is right for you – all three insurance options will meet the requirements laid out by the Finnish Government. The Atlas Travel plan offers comprehensive travel/medical coverage that meets all of the Finnish requirements and is the least expensive option. The Student Secure offers easy monthly payments if you pay with a credit card, and it also offers some coverage that is not included in the Atlas plan, mainly maternity and mental health coverage, and coverage for pre-existing conditions after one year of continuous coverage. The Europe Travel plan allows you to choose your currency and provides full plan service out of Europe.
